7th Malvern (St Peter’s and St Joseph’s) Scout Group MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE 7th MALVERN SCOUT GROUP HELD ON Friday 4th July 2008 1. Welcome and Apologies for absence. In the absence of the group chair the AGM is led by the GSL, Francis Wall. Apologies were received from: Alan Williams (former Cub Leader), Anne Keen (Committee member), Neil Touissant (Treasurer), Kevin Douglas (Chairman), Tom Shepherd (Young Leader).
2. Minutes of the Last AGM 6th July 2007 The minutes were signed as a true record.
3. Matters arising from the minutes. There has been a lot of work done on the hut this year, including painting the interior, mending windows, fitting exterior lighting, erection of garage, disabled access.
4. Group Executive Committee Report, including GSL report. Francis highlighted the main points in his report (attached), with particular emphasis on the following matters; Fundraising; Subs up to £30 per term, Continuing push on Gift Aid, Small reduction in hut insurance. Proposal of fundraising committee to raise money for items on our wish list (a Tipi), as well as replacement of essential camp items. This was agreed and will be made up of Francis, Dave King, Sharon Adams (Beaver Leader), Marie Rogers (Cub parent). Long Term Plan; a long tern plan for the group will be produced during leaders meetings. Operational issues; we need helpers to assist with maintenance of the hut. The Church; 7th Malvern Scout Group is affiliated to St Peters and St Josephs, St Peters is currently undergoing an unsettled period as the Diocese explores its future, which may include use as a community centre. The Group needs to keep informed of developments. 5. Group Scout leader’s Report (attached) As above
6. Section Leaders’ Reports Scout, Cub and Beavers reports attached A big WELCOME to Rob and Sharon our new Beaver Leaders who took over from Abi, and congratulations to Tom on becoming Akela for the Cubs. 7. Group Treasurers Report and Financial Statement 2006-07 Neil is still working in America but is willing to continue as treasurer, Kevin is to take on the role of Treasurers assistant and be in charge of day-to-day matters.
8. District Commissioner’s Address (New DC Derek Barnes) “What parents may not realise is the team spirit present amongst the Leaders, and this is why 7th Malvern is so successful. Any time that you, as parents, can give to support the group, helps them help your children. Congratulations to Francis Wall on his appointment to GSL, and Rob Adams for becoming a warranted leader. Keep going!” 9. Appointment of Group Chairman. Kevin Douglas was re-elected as Group Chair.
10. Appointment of Group Officers Secretary- Adele Jolley Treasurer- Neil Toussant There were no other nominations and the appointments were accepted. Kevin Douglas was nominated as assistant treasurer.
11. Appointment of Group Executive Committee Members Anne Keen has decided to step down after many years and will be sadly missed. Francis Wall (GSL) put forward the following nominees.

The Hall is available for hire and needs to be advertised. Web site is pending Group Neckers are available in Harpers Bazaar and in the Beavers Tuck Shop.
Chairs business Thank you to; Mrs Lunn for the continued use of the paddock. Mike Grovner for heading the Garage erection party. The cleaner (shifty looking chap who often looks like he’s slept in the hedge) and son who are doing an execellant job. Parents, Guardians, Leaders and young leaders and all those who contribute to the success of the group. And especially Sharon who has organised the food for this evening.
